Stay at Home Chapter 3 - Day 19

Monday April 26

Took the MWD to the vet's today for her annual shots and prevention for ticks and heartworm. She (the vet) was pleased with her skin, which has cleared up but she (the dog) still has to be on some kind of medication to keep the disease at bay.  Next week, we'll transition her (the dog) to a non-steroid alternative.  It's a bit more expensive but the side effects of the steroids are unpleasant - she's (the dog) has already gained a load of weight and apparently, dogs can develop diabetes as a result of being on steroids too long. Huh.

Two years ago today, long before anyone thought that travel restrictions would ever be a thing, we (Himself, HistoryBoy and I) were on our way to New York.  My cousin, The Doctor lives about 1 hour north of New York City so on HB's break we went to visit her and her family.

It took us ages because I had the bright idea that we would do some sightseeing along the way.  I wanted to stop in Corning and maybe do a tour of the Corningware factory.   But that didn't happen; it was taking too long to go down the coast of Lake Erie so we cut across and drove through the Finger Lake District.  It would have been nice to stop and explore again that didn't happen.

Here we are at the Peace Bridge, the Buffalo border crossing.  It only took us about 15 minutes to cross - that's always a concern.  Sometimes you can be stuck for hours.  The guards weren't too dicky. Our guy looked about 17.

We rolled into The Doctor's house a little after 9, in the pouring rain, about 12 hours after we departed absolutely exhausted.

Fortunately, the next day we had just planned to hang out with my cousin and her two horrible children.

More tomorrow.

Until tomorrow.  Stay sane.
