Lock down Shut down Chapter 3 - Day 3

Monday April 5

Today is one of those weird holidays where you never know what's open or closed. No mail, schools and banks closed.  City offices not open.  HistoryBoy was off today as was ScienceGirl so we all had a lie in.  I had already decided that I was not doing groceries today which is the usual Monday morning errand.  There was still enough food left over from the week-end that we wouldn't starve.

ScienceGirl had to go back to that Toronto today; she has to go into her lab tomorrow to do some experiment so I drove her down to the Aldershot GO station to catch the train.  It was not on a holiday schedule so the trains were running every 30 minutes.  She wanted to catch the 11:55 train so we decided that leaving at 11 would be fine.  It takes about 40 minutes to get there from here so it should have been fine.  As we were both just sitting around at quarter to 11 I suggested we just leave then but she didn't want to be sitting around the train station. So we left at 11, went to Tim's and as we were flying down Hwy. 8, I glanced at the clock and realized that at 11:25, she was not making that train.  Sure enough, she missed the train by 2 minutes.  Oh well, sucks to be you.  If you had listened to me, you wouldn't have missed it.  I told her I wasn't sitting in the parking lot for half an hour.  I waited about 10 while she went to the bathroom then I left.

I phoned the mechanic to get the snow tires off.  I think it's safe now.  I have an appointment for Wednesday morning.  I need an oil change as well and something is leaking out of the bottom of the van so I'll get them to take a look at that.  Hopefully it's not serious or expensive.

The Mad Wee Dog had run out of some of her meds so I had to call the vet to get that refilled.  These were the ones to protect her stomach from the effects of the steroids she's on the keep her something something auto-immune skin disease from flaring up. She's on these forever and apparently, because I asked, the effects of the steroids are less harmful than the disease.  So that's nice.  She also has to take a tablet to help with the protein-losing ailment she now has and which wheatens are prone to.  I had to get her her own little pill box to keep track of it all.  Oh, and the steroids make her thirsty so she drinks loads and has to pee loads.  She doesn't always make it to the back door.  So that's nice.  We bought a waterproof blankety thing to go on our bed because sometimes she pees in her sleep. Also nice.  Lucky for her she's cute.

The rain stopped long enough for me and the MWD to get out for our walk this evening.  Not too many people out and about - not like the week-end.

That's all for today.  Until tomorrow.

Stay sane.
