She's not from the breeder we first contacted; her litter didn't have any Irish-coated females but a breeder friend of hers had a bitch who was about to deliver a litter. As it turned out, this dog ended up with 3 Irish females so yay us.
We first visited the puppies after Christmas when they were only a couple a weeks old. They were cute, but like human infants, fairly useless. They barely had their eyes opened and were just a little bit beyond the skootching on their stomach stage. We didn't really want to choose one at this point because one little brown furry blob is pretty much like the others. We wanted to wait until their personalities had come through a bit. So off we went, all four of us.
We had to choose between 2 as one of the females had already been spoken for. I found it a little nerve-wracking to be honest. What if the adorable little ball of fluff turns out to be Cujo? They're all cute so you can't use that as a factor. We're not interested in showing the thing so "breed standard" doesn't really matter either. All you can go by is the personality but they're still only 4 weeks old so perhaps their personalities aren't fully formed yet. We decided on the one who came to say hello and had a little chew on all of us. She seemed cuddlier than the other one who didn't seem at all bothered with us.
So in a couple of weeks, Puppy Dog comes to live with us. Updates, I'm sure, will follow.
Cute! Looking forward to seeing more of her.
