Public Transit is, you know, Public

I'm always amazed at what people will talk about on the bus with their friends.

Overheard on the bus in the last few days:

1. A woman was explaining to her friend how she told her new husband why she had been in a crappy mood. She had this big long story about her Aunt arriving for her monthly visit and bringing her a present. Yes, the woman had her period and now I knew about it.

2. Same woman, same friend describing how she's in this custody battle with her ex which involves Children's Aid and lawyers for the kids.

3. Two old dears going through the litany of their infirmities and results of tests, including urine.

4. Two fellas from Newfoundland discussing a couple of their mutual acquaintance and how bad this couple was for each other. Each proceeded to tell stories to demonstrate this theory.

5. A young girl taking her birth control pill.

What makes people think others are interested in their private business? Would they just start talking to strangers about this stuff? I don't think so but that's what they are doing really.

You try not to listen in but you can't help but overhear because you're kinda trapped and they aren't whispering. And besides, it is kinda interesting.
