Stay at Home Chapter 3 - Day 39

 Monday May 17

Grocery day.  I went to the garden centre at the grocery store.  It wasn't too busy surprisingly. I was only looking for annuals this time. I need time to think about perennials.  I wanted impatiens for our shady back yard and some stuff for my containers.  There wasn't a lot of choice - I didn't see any petunias or what's the ones that the flower is a little spike and kinda soft and fluffy? There were no cosmos or salvia.  There was a time all you could get was petunias and salvia.  I was successful however.  Two flats of white impatiens for the shady backyard and some geraniums and lobelia for the containers. And something called a licorice plant for the greenery, hanging bits.

I'm still on the lookout for some annuals to fill in the bare spots in the front when the perennials start to look sad and sketchy.  I'm also on the hunt for ferns to replace the ones I didn't receive from Veseys.  I was going to get some begonias for front but they seemed a bit expensive to me.  I'll wait for a few weeks and see if they go on sale.

I should get all this planted before the week-end as it's supposed to be 29,30 degrees.  A spectacular holiday week-end with nowhere to go. It's HB's 18th birthday and we can't go out for supper or go out to do anything.  For a couple of years, we went to the virtual reality place. For his 16th we went to pool hall after the VR (yeah, we're classy like that).  It was kinda fun really. This year I was thinking of axe throwing but that won't happen, at least not on the actual day.  This bites.

Until tomorrow.  Stay sane.
