School's Out for Summer

Those of you of a certain age will be now hearing Alice Cooper's voice in your head.

And who can resist The Muppets.

Both the Trouts are finally finished their school year.  Science Girl* finished her last exam on Tuesday and Lego Boy today.  But the last few days have  been a whirlwind of ice-cream parties and picnics and games days, it makes me wonder why they bother going.

The summer will be mad as usual.  Soccer 4 nights a week (they're both playing this year which blows), Survival Camp and swimming lessons for Lego Boy. Science Girl isn't doing anything.  She should be working but hasn't found a job.  I'm not sure she's trying very hard either. Camping,  which I love,  and holidays and a trip to the waterpark.  We were thinking of going to see the Tall Ships if we can figure out which port won't be totally jam-packed.  It seems like we try to pack a year's worth of activities into 8 weeks.

Just to keep everything in perspective, the radio announcer this morning was reminding listeners that today was in fact the last day of school and interviewing kids about what they had planned for the summer.  At the end of his bit told us that there were 68 days until the first day of school.  Tool.

At least tomorrow we get a bit of a lie in before the festivities begin next week.

*Pig-headed Girl has discovered the blog and, after I explained what it meant,  was so indignant about her nickname that she asked me to change it.

  1. My Origami Boy has stopped doing Origami so is not happy either. He was nearly Lego boy too by the way! So glad to have found you,; there aren't man blogs that genuinely make me laugh.

  2. I'm definitely hearing that song! Trouble in our house as one finishes tomorrow, a week before the other! That's seven days of early morning sulking to come ...
