Bits and Pieces from the Summer

There was a visit to the donkey sanctuary

Things I learned:  If a donkey bonds with the herd they share the field with, they will protect it from coyotes or wolves;  (I don't know what happens if they don't bond.  I guess it's "sucks to be you, you big cow".)  donkeys nibble on each other to groom;  donkeys are a member of the equine family along with zebras and horses.  (I can't get the stupid text to left align)

There was camping again.  But it was better this year partially because we had a shadier site.

Some things I learned: fireflies, which I only see where we camp, are really fascinating;  it's acceptable to say hello to people on your way to the washroom but only during the day.  You don't make eye contact in the middle of the night.  It's also acceptable to wander around in your pyjamas but not in your goonie.  I got some funny looks when I shuffled into the john of a morning.  Doesn't anyone wear a nightie anymore?

These were some of the sights I saw on our holidays.

Things I learned: Boy has become much more confident in the water;  even with 2 days of crap weather, it was still a great time;  a week just isn't long enough.
