A happy belated New Year to everybody.
Our New Year's Eve was quiet, too quiet which is how we like it. Science Girl was out with friends and Luddite Granny came over to us. We played Wii Bowling and then an hour's worth of a many rounds card game that can go on for ages. At 10:20, we live-streamed some pub in St. John's and rang in the new year at 10:30 with the Newfoundlanders. We gave her some tea then drove Luddite Granny home.
After tidying up, since it was going on to 12, we turned on the CBC to ring in 2017 in our own time zone. I was quite impressed with the show from Parliament Hill. The fireworks were spectacular and the carillon from the Peace Tower was something you don't hear everyday. It was a fitting beginning to the 150th anniversary of Canada.
Over the course of the year, I'll be writing a few posts about Canada and its history. I hope to post more often too. I won't say it's a resolution because we all know how those go.
In the meantime, on this gloomy, rainy day, I await the delivery of my new washer after my old one very conveniently cacked out on New Year's Eve day.

Ha, we just got a stainless steel dishwasher to ring the New Year in with. Great price too. We have been having many ice storms and everything is frozen with ice and more freezing rain. My greetings to you all for a lovely new year......wanna go skating 😀
