Not Another Pair of Socks

I have just finished my fourth consecutive pair of socks.  I have knit nothing else for several months.

I picked this yarn for the colour combination
but now I can't think what I would wear them with

This pair bugs me because they don't match.
The colours don't even repeat properly on each sock.

I haven't  blocked these yet so they
look a little rumpled

These would be nice except I wasn't paying
attention and one is 2 inches
shorter than the other.

I do not want to knit another pair of socks.  Not for a while anyway.

But I need something to knit.

My powers of concentration seem to be lacking these days, so I'm not sure an intricate pattern would be the right choice.  I tried a lacy scarf a while back but after the 6th attempt I conceded defeat and moved on to my 3rd pair of socks.

I know to make something for anyone over the age of 12 is a big time commitment. I like the sort of instant gratification of socks.  Sure, it still takes me a few days to make them but I can see progress at each knitting session.  A couple of hours here, cuff done.  A couple of hours there, leg done.  But a cardigan, say, for myself... 2 hours later and I'm still making the border of the back.   And then there's the whole sewing the thing together.  Meh.

There are no little people around I could knit something for.  I've got lots of cute little patterns from when I was knitting for my own kids and I often get the urge to cast on for a wee cardigan.  But what would I do with the finished product?  I could donate it somewhere I suppose.

Right now, I've started a little preemie hat just to tide me over but that won't last long.

Any suggestions?

  2. These are absolutely gorgeous. I am always in awe of knitters - I just can't do it even though I love crochet. You should sell them!
