Almost There

Christmas preparations are progressing apace here chez Trouts.

The baking is almost finished.  I made some mince tarts yesterday morning.

I have another dozen to make but I can't decide which topping shape I like the best.  The small circles are too small I think.

I made my Tortoises last week.  There're like Turtles only better.

In progress

With their chocolate shell on.

The  tree standing naked in the front window for a couple of weeks hasn't been knocked over by the Mad Wee Dog as she dashes to the window for her Neighbourhood Watch Duty so I will continue to decorate it.

There was a bit of a to do with the lights;  I meticulously wrapped 6 strands of clear fairy lights around the tree and ran out of lights with about 18 inches to go.  Himself suggested I take them off and put them back on but more spread out.  Through gritted teeth I told him if I took the fucking lights off the fucking tree, they were going back in the fucking box.  Over the next couple of days, many stores were searched of non-LED, green-stranded, clear fairy lights to no avail.  The shelves were empty.  Then I had a brain-wave;  I would take the non-LED, green-stranded clear fairy lights off the outdoor wreath, put them on the last third of the tree and buy some LED clear fairy lights for the wreath.  After much searching, the clear lights were also non-existent also but by now I didn't care.  A nice big red bow would do for this year. I bought the wreath in to attach the bow and look what I found:

A stupid squirrel hid this slice of bread on my wreath.  Stupid thing.

The tree in the family room finally got its layer of tinsel this morning after being in varying stages of dress since Saturday.

Most of the Christmas pressies have been purchased.  I'll get Science Girl's wrapped before she gets home on Sunday because she is a horrible snoop.  I'm having trouble this year with stockings.  They're each getting a load of socks but I haven't found many little trinkets.  I've still got some time I suppose but I was trying to finish up by the end of the week-end.

I haven't done the Christmas cards yet.  But I figure if people get them sometime during the Christmas season, they should consider themselves lucky.

The Mad Wee Dog managed to get herself decorated.

I'll leave you with a fairly mediocre picture of a visitor to our bird feeder.  He refused to turn his head no matter how long I stood there.
