The Girl arrived home safe and sound Suday. Totally exhausted, of course, but well nonetheless.
She took about 300 pictures and not all of them were of her and her girlfriends which is good. She did not write down what the pictures were of at the end of each day so there are a lot of statues and old stone things that she's forgotten what they are. (That isn't a very grammatical sentence, is it?) And there's a few times she took 6 pictures of the same thing just from a different angle which will have to be edited. I mean, you don't really need 6 pictures of the Trevi Fountain, do you? There doesn't seem to be any examples of the Plains of Abraham.
Her adventures are coming out in dribs and drabs. It might take us months to find out most of the stories. I'm sure we'll never hear it all - some things you just don't tell your mother. But we heard about how some of them slept on the floor of the plane because the seats were uncomfortable (there must be some safety regulation about that), the creepy hotel they named the Bates Motel, how the tour guide shouted at the gypsy to get lost in Greek, how they had to go with a buddy on the ferry if they left their cabin at night because there were a lot of truckers on the boat. I'm not sure what that says about EU truckers. The food was good for the most part and she tried stuff that she probably wouldn't eat here. She even tried lamb in Greece.
There were a few parents who went on the trip, not us obviously and the comments from them about her made me proud. One couple said she just went with the flow and didn't get upset about delays or changes in plans and that she was a good little traveller. Another mum told me she was a pleasure to be with and yet another said she was strong, independent and organized.
My work here is almost done.
