Stay at Home Chapter 3 Day 42 + 10

 Sunday May 29

Another lovely day. Shorts and a t-shirt on the walk to Tims this am.  I made HistoryBoy come with me because he hadn't been out of the house in 12 years a couple of days. It's interesting the things we end up talking about - it went from underage drinking to Chinese history.

I finally got my seeds planted.  I had a packet of morning glories and a packet of lupins being softened up in a water-soaked paper towel for about a week.  The morning glories had all sprouted and were starting to go mouldy so I'm not holding my breath that they'll germinate never mind grow. Well, I guess they had geminated since there were little sprouts but you know what I mean.  Some of the lupins had little sprouts as well but not all so again not holding my breath.  I still have some cornflowers and cosmos to plant but I'm not sure if's it too late.  My annuals are still waiting for a permanent home but they're well-watered in the meantime. The weather next is supposed to decent so they'll get done then.

Until tomorrow.  Stay sane.

Stay at Home Chapter 3 - Day 42 + 8

 Saturday May 28

Lovely sunny day - a bit warmer today but I still needed a hoodie and a windbreaker for the walk to Tim's this am.

I sent ScienceGirl in this time for a change while I stood holding the Mad Wee Dog beside the drive-through driveway.  It was very stressful.  But Hen, you say, you were just standing there holding the dog.  How could that be stressful?  I got very anxious watching the cars in the drive-through - some didn't pull up far enough and left about half a car's  length between their front bumper and the next car's  rear bumper.  This normally wouldn't be an issue except that the drive-through was packed and people were lined up to the road and along the road back to the corner which is about 3 car lengths. The part of the drive-through from the road until the point of no return, when you are fully in the drive-through isn't very long - maybe 4 car lengths.  So if you don't pull up far enough, people get stuck out in the road.  And cars coming up that street have to go out into oncoming traffic to go around these cars. Now if people on the road waiting to go into the drive-through had any sense, they would go to the next driveway, pull in and park in the little parking area meant for the gas station store and Tim's.  And if those spots were full, there's always the parking lot for the plaza next door.  All this was going through my head as I was standing waiting for SG.  I had to turn around and look in the other direction so I couldn't witness this lack of consideration.  In doing so, I noticed a new metal bike rack next to the bus stop hut where I can chain up my bike when I ride it for my coffee.  Usually, I have to lock it to a rickety wooden fence.

So the 45,00 AstraZeneca shots due to expire on May 31 are now good until July 1.  Just like that. I'm good til after July 1st. thanks all the same.

Until tomorrow.  Stay sane.

Stay at Home Chapter 3 - Day 42 + 8

 Friday May 28

It is a good thing I did my planting yesterday because it poured rain much of the day. We did desperately need the rain though.  And it was bullshit cold too - only 4.  The heat came on in the house so that was nice.

HistoryBoy and I were going to go downtown to do our errands - me to the library and him to the bank but he didn't want to go and it was so miserable I didn't make him.  I didn't even want to go but I had a couple of books on hold to pick up at the library.

Nothing much on the agenda for the week-end.

Until tomorrow. Stay sane.

Stay at Home Chapter 3 - Day 42 + 7

Thursday May 27

A Big Walk this morning.  It was actually a prefect morning for it - not too hot, not at all humid.  And I was dressed appropriately.

I got some more planting done this evening -  the climbing rose and the veronica from Veseys and the foxglove and sweet william from the garden centre.  I should get the ferns planted on the week-end and then it's just the annuals to get in the ground.

It's getting harder to find things to talk about.  There's nothing noteworthy  going on or it's the same old shit each week.  After the Stay at Home order ends in 7 days I don't think I'll be writing everyday.  I'm boring myself to death.

Until tomorrow.  Stay sane.

Stay at Home Chapter 3 - Day 42 + 6

 Wednesday May 26

Did my groceries today on a Wednesday; it was very disconcerting.  There were different shoppers, different staff. I didn't even really need to go.

HistoryBoy went for his X-ray this afternoon.  I was very excited to be going to the hospital for this because our hospital has had a major addition and renovation that was fraught with step-backs, work stoppages and political bum-fuckery. It took way longer to complete because of this and at times it looked liked it wouldn't get completed at all.  This was the first time I would have been in it and was looking forward to a little look around. Because he's 18 they wouldn't let me accompany him to the x-ray department.  That's okay I thought I'll just stay in this this bright, airy new lobby and wander around a bit.  I could see a nice looking gift shop across the room, closed of course but I could look in the windows.  The bright, airy new lobby over-looked a little restaurant, probably a Tim's because they were in the hospital before the renovations.  There were plaques and photos on the walls - I could have easily killed 1/2 hour there.  But I wasn't allowed to stay.  Only patients could be there or if you were visiting someone.  I had to wait outside.  Oh, and they were having an outbreak of the plague as well.  I was quite disappointed.

Because I couldn't go with HB to the x-ray department, he had to take his health card with him; I have now relinquished permanent responsibility for it.   Woot, woot.  He'll need it next week when he gets his vaccine as well.

We did not get the 10mm of rain that was forecast today.  Everything is bone dry; we need a good couple of days of rain.  Well, the week-end's coming.

Until tomorrow.  Stay sane.
